Art Classes in Chichester – Unplug, Breathe, Create

Creative practice offers a simple way to pause, step away from the demands of everyday life and reconnect with your natural curiosity. At The Peaceful Paintbrush in Chichester, I offer gentle, intuitive art sessions for beginners and experienced creatives. These sessions are rooted in free-flow painting, creative exploration and the simple pleasure of making. They are a space to slow down, unplug and allow yourself to create without pressure.

  • There is no need to know how to draw or paint.

  • There is no right or wrong way to create.

  • You simply arrive as you are.

Intuitive painting for creative wellbeing

These sessions are not traditional art classes where you follow a demonstration or work towards producing a particular picture or exhibtion. Instead, you are invited to explore painting intuitively and respond to what is happening in the moment. It's also about the sacred creative within and reconnecting with who you are becoming. We may work in a healing way with colour, texture, gesture, movement and mark-making, allowing the painting to develop naturally rather than deciding in advance what it should become.

  • Sometimes the process is energetic and playful.

  • Sometimes it is quiet and contemplative.

  • Sometimes you may simply sit with your painting and see what happens next.

The emphasis is on slowing down rather than producing a perfect finished artwork.

Art, music and free-flow creativity

Music is an important part of my creative practice. During sessions, music may become a starting point for painting, inviting you to respond through colour, movement, rhythm and mark-making. I also use oracle cards.

There may also be periods of quiet or complete silence, giving you space to become absorbed in the process.

Time to unplug

Our lives can be filled with screens, notifications, information and constant demands for our attention. These sessions offer a chance to step away from all of that.

  • Put your phone away.

  • Slow down.

  • Listen to the music.

  • Pick up a brush.

  • Make a mark.

  • There is nowhere else you need to be.

  • Creative conversation and wonder and awe!

This is time to reconnect with your creativity and enjoy the calm that can come from being completely absorbed in making something with your hands.

Creative wellbeing and calm

Creative practice can offer a valuable opportunity to slow down, become present and experience a different pace. For me, creativity and mindfulness naturally meet in the process of paying attention. When we become absorbed in colour, texture, movement, sound and the physical act of making, we can become less caught up in thinking about what comes next.

These sessions are not art therapy and you don't need to discuss your personal experiences. They are simply a welcoming space for creativity, calm, curiosity and connection.
