Something sacred is stirring. You can feel it in the city studios where sound baths ripple through the air, in Spotify playlists where Sanskrit mantras pulse like a heartbeat. Cacao ceremonies are being poured not just in far-off jungles but on our high streets.
Ancient practices are no longer hidden corners of the world. They are speaking a new language of awakening, one that whispers to our hearts as much as it shapes our minds.
Even Buddhism, once cloistered in temples and monasteries, is stepping into the light. Meditation apps, mindfulness merchandise, Zen quotes on mugs. All around us, the world seems to be leaning towards stillness. And yet, in the rush of access, in the shimmer of popularity, the depth is often left behind. The heart, the discipline, the quiet inner work that these practices were born from is easy to forget.
So I ask, gently but urgently:
Do we truly understand what we are calling in?
It is not just chanting, sipping and painting. It is remembering the why, honouring the roots, feeling the real, subtle power of these sacred tools.
Do we truly understand what we are inviting into our lives?
As a contemplative artist and guide who has walked these paths for years, through both the blissful and the broken, I see a vital thread that is often missing.
Meaning. Intention. Reverence.
This is not simply about learning. It is about remembering. These practices are alive. They are not trends. They are invitations. Invitations to return to the deeper truths within ourselves and within all of creation.
A small creative exercise:
Take a quiet moment, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Imagine a sacred symbol, a colour, or a word that feels like your anchor. Take a pen or brush and let your hand move without thinking, without expectation. Allow the shapes, colours, or marks to be your conversation with the deeper part of yourself. Sit with it for a few minutes. When you are ready, gently ask yourself: What is the quiet wisdom and creative message for me today?
